Christmas Party Look | 2015

Last Friday was my work Christmas party and I had a lovely time seeing everyone that I don't get to see when I'm at uni. It was a really nice evening (even if the drinks were extortionately priced..) and I even bought a new dress for the occasion!

Seeing as it's Christmas Eve, I thought I'd post something festive..
I'm not sure if you can document a Get Ready With Me very easily on a blog but I'm going to give it a go!

To start with, I washed and dried my hair. Before blow-drying, I used the V05 Smoothly Does It heat defence cream. I then curled my hair with my straighteners, and to finish my hair, I used the Tresemmé Perfectly Undone Dry Definining Spray and the V05 Shape My Style Creation Hairspray.

For my makeup I wanted to have lots of sparkle because it's Christmas(!) so I made sure I upped my glitter use! I used MAC's Cranberry eyeshadow in combination with Woodwinked for the warm tones, and then I added an almost holographic gold glitter. I followed up with my winged liner (I don't feel complete without it!) and lots of mascara, which is always essential for me too! Going all out on the eyes, I kept my base and lips very simple with soft, dewy skin and a
nude lip.

Kinda blurry, sorry!

My outfit was a dress from New Look which has a black and white geometric print. I love the design of this dress, the style is really on-trend and I got loads of compliments on it! I styled it with tights, some plain black platformed boot heels, a small black fold-over shoulder bag with a gold chain, and a gold geometric necklace. For a bit of warmth travelling to and from the party, I added my huge fluffy coat from Topshop.

The last thing I did before I left was spritz my YSL Black Opium perfume, which is such an amazing scent that I usually only wear on nights out because it's quite musky, but recently I've been loving in the day time too.

I hope you enjoyed reading!

Light Side vs. Dark Side | Star Wars Episode VII

A few months ago I had no interest in Star Wars at all. I had only seen one of the films a very long time ago and I didn't even know which one it was. Since two of my housemates are such big Star Wars fans, they wanted me to watch the films before the release of the seventh episode this December. We only watched three of the six, and whilst episode 4 sent me to sleep (whoops!), I actually enjoyed 5 and 6 and am now (very surprisingly) looking forward to the new movie!

Taking inspiration from this odd shift in my life, I decided to take part in the Covergirl (Maxfactor) campaign to recreate some of the looks they created as promo for the new film. The looks they made are so amazing but aren't very wearable, for day or even for night, and so the campaign encourages people to create more wearable versions of these looks.

Here's what I came up with...

Light Side:

Dark Side:

Even if you don't like Star Wars, I hope you enjoyed these looks!

Which is your favourite?

I haven't posted in a while so I thought I'd share some Christmassy shots.
We spent the last weekend decorating the house for Christmas, which I love doing every year, although this year I'm feeling particularly festive..I blame my housemate who is the biggest Christmas lover I know!

I have a few festive posts planned for the next few weeks too :)

It's Mime Time | Halloween 2015

Hey there,

Since we have just celebrated Halloween, I thought I would share my costume with you. My housemate and I dressed as mimes for the night and I think we looked really good (if I do say so myself...).

Halloween | Autumn 2015

Hello Pumpkin,

As a child I never really celebrated Halloween because it wasn't something that appealed to my parents, I never went trick or treating although I did usually have an annual Halloween sleepover, which I could accept as a fair compromise! Getting older means I can celebrate Halloween how I want (which essentially means carving a pumpkin and dressing up if I go out).

Last Monday was our uni-family pumpkin carving day which was really fun! Mine's the one on the far right - with the eyebrows that you could say are "on-fleek" - haha, I apologise for that!

This year for Halloween my housemate and I will be dressing as mimes (an idea that stemmed from the black and white stripy top that I wore on the day we went looking for our costumes). It's a really easy costume to create but I think it'll be really good!
I've found loads of makeup inspiration photos for our mime makeup but I'll upload pictures of the final looks after Halloween.

Happy Halloween!

Afternoon Tea in Reading | Autumn 2015

Hi there!

So last weekend I left Bournemouth for Reading to celebrate my friend's 21st birthday. It was such a nice weekend and I'm glad she could celebrate it with her uni friends and (most of) her home friends too!

I went for two nights and she'd planned the whole weekend so on Saturday afternoon, we headed out for a very sophisticated champagne afternoon tea at Bill's - although slightly less-sophisticated me chose tea over the champagne...

I really loved visiting Reading, and I'm looking forward to the majority of my friends now turning 21 - let the celebrations commence!

Current Favourites | Autumn 2015

Hi Blogger,

I've been off my blogging game for a while now so I thought I'd do a general favourites instead of falling back into the monthly routine of it.
Having not done one of these for so long, I have been able to try out so many new things over the summer and I have lots to talk about!

#1.  Benefit Hoola Bronzer - perfect for contour! Been using this with my Real Techniques Sculpting Brush, and blending it with the RT Blush Brush.

#2.  Rimmel London Kate Moss Lipstick: Shade #38 - such a lovely colour for everyday, and even a night out. Warms the face subtly, and goes with pretty much anything!

#3.  John Frieda Beach Blonde Shampoo & Conditioner - these products smell amazing! It's like you're washing your hair in a mojito, sort of...

#4.  Netflix - self-explanatory.. Netflix has allowed me to binge watch Pretty Little Liars and Gossip Girl over summer, and I've loved it!

#5. Moving back to Bournemouth - As you may have seen in my last post, I have moved back to Bournemouth for my second year at uni and I'm having the best time living with my housemates.

#6. Nike Juvenates - I have no idea if these are 'cool' or not, but they are the most comfortable shoes I own! - Perfect for the gym or a casual day.

#7. Umberto Giannini Beauty Secrets Moisture Mask - over the summer I had my hair coloured which has added to the general abuse my hair receives from constant heat styling and general wear and tear. I'm always on the look out for a good hair mask and I picked this up on a whim, but it's so good! I'll definitely repurchase it.

#8. theBalm MaryLou-manizer - my friend bought me this for my birthday and I'm in love! A really intense but beautiful highlight.

#9. Batiste Stylist Texture Me Texturising Spray - since cutting my hair shorter, I need a lot more texture in my hair to make it look how I want..this is the one I'm currently using and it's great!

#10. Kiko Long Lasting Eyeshadow Stick: Shade #28 Bright Ivory - this product acts great as a base or on its own, lasts all day and doesn't crease. I've also heard it's a dupe for the By Terry Ombre Blackstar, for a fraction of the price!

#11. L'Oréal Paris Superstar Mascara - bought on recommendation from a friend, amazing volume and length...but don't apply to bottom lashes because your eyes will get stuck together (I speak from experience here!).

What are your current favourites?

Year #2

Hello Blogger!

I'm back, after an inexcusable five months away from blogging!
I'll fill you in from the last time we spoke:

I had a very busy summer, in which I turned 20 (whaaat?!), caught up with all my friends from home, worked, and took full advantage of the fact that my parents were cooking dinner every night!
I also managed to pass my first year at uni with a 2:1 (yay!) and am currently back in Bournemouth for my second year, living with three of my course mates, who are more like family than friends to me now! I'm having such a good time, and now that my course has restarted and I have more of a routine, I thought I would get myself back into blogging. it goes!

The new cast of Friends?

Talk soon, promise!

April Favourites

It's time for my April Favourites...and also my first post in a long time (sorry!)..

Friday, 17 April 2015

Creme Puff Blush

I'd seen these Maxfactor blushes in Boots a few times and then I'd heard a few people talking about them and I just really wanted to try them.

I love the packaging!

When I finally got round to picking one up, I restricted myself to just one (seeing as I'm a poor student) but I got the shade Lovely Pink, which is a pretty peachy pink - great for spring and summer!

Polperro | Cornwall

So last week my mum booked a little cottage in a tiny seaside village called Polperro in Cornwall. We stayed for three nights and it was such a nice family getaway - although there wasn't much to do! But, we were really lucky and had the sun everyday we were there which definitely helped :)

I took a few pictures of the harbour and village so just thought I'd share them for today's post...

OOTD | A Spring Day

 Hello hello hello,

I really liked this outfit I threw together so thought I'd share it here. It's really simple but it's so comfortable and easy to wear.

Pretty In Pink

Long time, no posts!

The warmer weather's been making me so excited for Spring and Summer and so my makeup's seen a bit of an update recently. I'm really into a fresh base with warm, pinky tones on the eyes, cheeks and lips at the moment. It's such an easy look for everyday and suits the springtime sunshine...

Today I'm going to be writing about some of my favourite things at the moment...gone past the end of February so can't really call it my February Favourites anymore!

Mini Boots Haul

So I may have had a mini splurge in Boots recently...and whilst I'm a poor student, I just couldn't help myself! I didn't go too overboard though so that makes it my mind anyway!

Home Comforts

So I've just had a reading week which means that for the past week, I've been able to come home to Devon and relax. My housing at university is, quite literally, disgusting (where the only positive is the fast wifi) so it's nice to come home to a clean house which has other perks like: a TV, a car, my family and boyfriend, my dog, decent meals, and a shower which actually offers some decent water pressure so that I can save about 25 minutes when washing my hair! Not even joking...

I've made it out to be really awful, I know...but in all honesty, Bournemouth is a nice place - it's just my housing that's pretty awful (which is why I really appreciate my home comforts). I'm planning on doing some photography around Bournemouth with one of my friends when I'm back up there too!

Here are a few pictures of Devon and my home comforts (mostly old photos) to show why I love it so much!

Thanks for reading!

Russian Red

So I've recently posted a Mini MAC Haul (which you can see here) where I mentioned Russian Red - a matte formula lipstick. This lipstick is such a classic and I'm sure you've all heard about it but I wanted to give it its own post because I love it so much.

Face of the Day

Hello hello hello,

This was a shopping day and I was feeling really ill so wanted something simple to make me look less like I was dying so went for some warm, pinky tones.

They're real...I swear!

Yes I know, I'm so so so late to this bandwagon that it's rolled off into the distance as I'm left, miles behind, trying desperately to catch up with it. Benefit's They're Real! Mascara...I have seen the light..finally!
